When she was four years old, a high fever seared away a large portion of Linnaea Mallette’s hearing. This adversity has not stopped her from living a full and fulfilling life. She is happily married, works doing what she loves, and is past District Governor of Toastmasters International. Linnaea Mallette is a professional speaker, author and radio show host. As a person with a profound hearing loss, Linnaea reads lips to help her “hear.” She is the recipient of the Oticon Focus on People Award given to twelve individuals nationwide who defy stereotypes about being hearing impaired. Linnaea demonstrates that no disability or adversity defeats those who are determined to accomplish and achieve.
